Prepare this simple North Indian famous masoor daal, which is high on protein and is certainly a healthy choice for your child.

½ cup dhuli masoor daal, 2 cup water, ½ tbsp chopped ginger and garlic , 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped tomato, 1 tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander powder , salt as per taste, coriander leaves, ghee
1. Wash and rinse the dal well. Pressure cook it with 2 cups of water and ½ tsp salt. Cook it till turns soft and mushy and keep aside.
2. Take another pan heat ghee. Fry cumin seeds till they become brown, add onions and fry for a while.
3. Add chopped ginger and garlic. Saute till the raw aroma of ginger and garlic goes away.
4. Add tomatoes and fry well till turns soft. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt as per taste and mix well.
5. Now add the cooked dal from the cooker and pour about two cups of water or as needed.
6. Simmer the dal for 6-7 minutes on low flame.
Add ½ tbsp lemon juice to add the tangy flavour in it. Serve hot with rice or chapatis.
