Urad ki kheer

Black gram dal is full of proteins. Using black gram dal, you can make a tasty dessert, Urad ki kheer. Adding jaggery will give the valuable carbohydrates too. You can flavour the dessert with cardamom powder and grated coconut, both a good source of vitamin and minerals.

    Ingredients to make Urad ki kheer:

    1 /2 cup black gram dal(split), ½ cup jaggery, 1 tsp grated coconut, ¼ tsp cardamom powder, a pinch of salt

    Steps to make Urad ki Kheer:

    1. Dry roast the black gram dal till a nice aroma comes from the dal.

    2. Transfer the dal in a pressure cooker. Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles.

    3. Prepare the jaggery syrup by boiling the jaggery in little water and then strain the mixture.

    4. Once the pressure of the cooker cools down, mash the dal. Add the jaggery syrup and blend well. Keep stirring on a medium flame for about 5 mins.

    5. Add the cardamom powder and grated coconut. A pinch of salt can also be added.

    Yummy and wholesome urad ki kheer is ready.
