Yummy Sprouts Kadhi

This is an interesting variation to the traditional kadhi. This dish is loaded with fibers, calcium, vitamin B and C, and antioxidants. Its tangy flavor will be loved.

    Ingredients: 1 cup mixed sprouts (moong and chana), 1.5 cup curd, 3-4 tbsp gram flour, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, few curry leaves, 1/2 tsp asafoetida, 2 whole red chillies, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, salt as per taste, 1 big onion, 1" ginger, 2-3 garlic pods, 2 tsp oil.

    Steps:

    1. Heat a deep and heavy bottomed pan, add oil, then add cumin & mustard seeds, red chillies & asafoetida and curry leaves. 

    2. Saute for a few seconds, then add finely chopped onion, ginger & garlic. Saute it for 3-4 minutes.

    3. Then add sprouts and saute for another 2-3 minutes.

    4. In a deep bowl add gram flour, curd, turmeric powder, red chilli powder & salt.

    5. Add water to make it a lump free batter.

    6. Add this batter to the prepared mixture.

    7.  Add 1 more glass of water and mix well.

    8. After the first boil, put the flame on low.

    9. Cook it till desired consistency,  keep stirring in between.

    Serve this hot with rice or chapati!

    Note: Curd should be a bit sour. To make sprouts soak whole green lentils and black gram for the entire night then wash and drain, store in casserole at warm place, with in 24 hours sprouts will emerge.
