    What you need to know:

These are dreams that your child may get during the later half of the night. Usually children wake up, cry, and are scared to go back to sleep. Your angel may be unable to describe what she saw but it still upsets her. Soothe your child by gently rubbing her back and assuring her that you are right there and everything is fine.

Most often, nightmares are a reaction to something that happened before your child went to sleep, like a scary story, a disturbing TV show, or a stressful incident. To prevent nightmares, keep minimal lighting in the bedroom and have soothing bed time routines. If the nightmares persist, you may consider consulting a child specialist, who can help you identify and analyze anything anomalies happening in her waking hours.
