At Acko, we would love nothing more than to insure the health of as many people as we possibly can. No one should have to worry about medical expenses when their family members need access to the best healthcare support.

But the sad reality is that despite our best intentions, we can’t serve everyone. We try to insure as many customers as we can, and at the same time keep insurance affordable for all. To achieve this goal, we are constantly innovating on products to serve specific needs of every individual. A standard insurance plan can never fit the needs of every individual.

We have an underwriting algorithm that decides whether we can extend insurance to an individual or not. The algorithm takes a number of factors to evaluate each and every proposal. 

For each individual being insured, it considers numerous factors like – age, geographic locations, existing health conditions, lifestyle, availability of hospitals in the network, probability of accidents / illnesses / pandemics / epidemics in the region, cost of healthcare in the region, inflation, and many more factors.

In some cases when there’s insufficient information, further medical tests might be required for some or all insured members to make a proper assessment.

After a comprehensive evaluation of all the factors, the underwriting algorithm arrives at the premium for issuing a policy and also the toughest decision of all – whether to accept a proposal or not.

We apologise if your proposal got declined. It could be because of one or more of the reasons listed above. We are constantly improving our offerings and services so that we can help a more diverse group of people than we are currently able to. When we are able to extend an insurance policy to you that even partially covers your risk of hospitalisation, we will reach out to you.
