Delhi: An Overview

Delhi, also officially called the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is a Union Territory (UT) of India. It is also home to India's capital, New Delhi. It is a city with rich historical significance as it served as the capital of the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Empire. Hence, the city plays host to several historical monuments.

Some of the prominent places to visit in Delhi include Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Lodhi Gardens, Bahai Temple, etc.

  • Built in the 17th century, the Red Fort served as the main residence of the Mughals. On Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at Red Fort. It is one of the most important pieces of the history of India, and it is a must-visit location in Delhi.

  • Qutub Minar is another prominent structure built during the Mughal Empire era. It is a UNESCO World Heritage and one of the most visited tourist spots in Delhi.

  • Lodhi Gardens is a place where you can take a walk and relax in the open environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • Bahai Temple or Lotus Temple is a temple that resembles the shape of a lotus flower. One of the main highlights of this temple is that it is open to all faiths.
