Saka Dawa is a festival that symbolises the birth of Sakyamuni, the other name for Lord Gautam Buddha when he attained enlightenment. People chant the "Om Mani Padme Hum" mantra during this festival. People also erect a new flag pole at Tarpoche and hang new flags on it.
