Madhya Pradesh: An Overview

Madhya Pradesh is a state in the central part of India. It is the second-largest state by area and the fifth-largest state in terms of population. It is also rich in mineral resources and has the country's largest reserves of copper and diamond. Tourism is one of the major industries in this state. Some of the state's popular places include Gwalior, Khajuraho, Orchha and Sanchi Stupa.

  • Gwalior is one of the prominent cities in Madhya Pradesh. It is known for its rich history, and the Gwalior Fort reflects the same. The fort was constructed in the 8th century. If you love exploring the history of this country, Gwalior is one of the places to visit.

  • Khajuraho is a temple known for its sculptures and carvings. The construction of temples at this place took around 200 years. It was brought to life by the Chandela monarchs in the 10th and 11th centuries. After the dynasty's downfall, it lost its significance until the Britishers discovered it.

  • Orchha is a place known for its temples, forts and palaces. Orchha fort complex is also a prominent place. You can also enjoy boating in the Betwa river.

  • Emperor Ashoka built the Sanchi Stupa, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It also houses several monasteries and temples.
