The state celebrates some unique festivals apart from the common festivals, such as Diwali, Holi, Christmas, etc. Some of the prominent festivals of Sikkim include Losoong Festival, Losar Festival, Bhumchu Festival, International Flower Festival, Saga Dawa and Tendong Lho Rum Faat.

Mahayana Buddhists celebrate the Saga Dawa festival in Sikkim. It involves the lighting of lamps in monasteries and mask dances. Monks move in convoys in Gangtok and chant hymns during this festival.
