Madhya Pradesh is a state in Central India. It has beautiful rivers, forests, and hills. It has extremely hot summers but moderate winters, with ten national parks featuring unbounded flora and fauna. Madhya Pradesh has a rich cultural heritage with numerous World Heritage sites that draw tourists from the country and abroad.
However, the popularity of this state has led to heavy road traffic, which caused the roads to deteriorate. The government of Madhya Pradesh has developed a good road infrastructure with the help of RTO tax in MP collected from vehicle users.
In 2020 alone,45,000 road accidents were recorded in Madhya Pradesh.
Therefore, to improve the roads and reduce the occurrence of accidents, the government developed a robust road tax policy. Here, we discuss the finer MP RTO tax details.

The road tax in Madhya Pradesh is assessed and collected by the Madhya Pradesh Regional Transport Office (RTO).
This department uses the funds collected to maintain and construct roads. MP RTO tax complies with the M.P. Motoryan Karadhan Adhiniyam, 1991.
The payment of road tax is mandatory as per law, similar to other law-mandated rules like buying car/bike insurance for your new vehicle, following traffic rules, etc.
