Telangana has an impressive road network of approximately 27,000 km. With its capital city drawing huge crowds as its tech sector grows, the growing influx of tourists, and to meet the demands of its vast agricultural industry, Telangana has to constantly expand and maintain its road network.
That is why every vehicle owner in the state is liable to pay the Suryapet Road tax, which aids the government in maintaining its roads.
The TS road tax has to be paid once at the time of purchasing your new vehicle.
The road tax payment is mandatory, similar to other mandatory rules like holding a valid Driving Licence, buying a bike/car insurance for your new vehicle, etc.
It allows you to use and enjoy Telangana's road network for the next 15 years stress-free.
The percentage of the Telangana Road Tax is determined by the Telangana Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, which considers various factors such as the age of the vehicle, its make and manufacturer, the fuel it runs on, a vehicle's dimensions, engine capacity, its purpose, etc.
The road tax in Suryapet is levied equal to a percentage of the vehicle's original cost, ensuring taxation is consistent across all vehicle categories.
Apart from the one-time tax you pay, the State of Telangana also levies a Green Tax on older vehicles. Owners of bikes and cars older than 15 years have to pay an annual Green Tax of Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively.
Transport vehicles, on the other hand, have to pay a Green Tax of Rs 7,000 annually after they are more than 7 years old.
The Suryapet road tax for two-wheelers is calculated based on how much time has passed since a two-wheeler was first registered.
