This includes the following:

  • Form 20 application form

  • Form 21 sales certificate from the vehicle dealer

Step 4: Vehicle inspection by the RTO:

The RTO schedules an inspection after receiving Form 20 and other documents. During this inspection:

  • Critical safety components are examined.

  • Unauthorized modifications are checked.

  • Emission testing is conducted using meters.

  • Photos of the vehicle are taken.

  • Engine and chassis numbers are assigned if not already present.

Step 6: Obtain the registration certificate (RC book):

If the vehicle passes the RTO inspection, the registration certificate (RC book) is issued within 1-2 weeks. It contains the assigned registration number.

Step 7: Install the high-security registration plates:

The RC book must be accompanied by registration number plates. The plate is issued by an authorized vendor. It should meet the prescribed design and dimensions. These plates carry a unique registration mark. It allows for the legal driving of the vehicle on roads only after its installation.
