Traffic challans are legal notices issued to motorists breaching traffic regulations. These penalties are instrumental in maintaining the rhythm and safety of Bokaro's bustling roads. At ACKO, we understand how daunting it can feel to receive an e-challan - that electronic version of a traffic ticket delivered straight to your mobile or email. This guide hopes to educate you on managing e-challans effectively.

An e-challan is an electronic version of the traditional paper challan. It's a ticket issued by the traffic police or transport authorities in India for any traffic rule violation. The advent of the e-challan has made it impossible for offenders to evade or manipulate the system. This digitisation maintains an accurate record of all traffic offences linked to a given vehicle or driver. Also, it allows instant payment of fines online, thus avoiding unnecessary trips to the traffic police station.
Here's a glimpse into some of the common traffic violations in Bokaro and their corresponding penalties:
Traffic Violation | Penalty |
---|---|
Driving without a licence | Rs. 5,000 |
Driving without registration | Up to Rs. 5,000 |
Driving without seat belt | Rs. 1,000 |
Violations of traffic signals | Up to Rs. 500 |
Using mobile phones while driving | Up to Rs. 10,000/up to 2 years in prison |
Driving without 2-wheeler/4-wheeler insurance | Up to Rs. 4,000/up to 6 months in prison |
Motor vehicle without PUC certificate | Up to Rs. 2,000 |
Disclaimer: The above-mentioned fines and its conditions are subject to change at the discretion of the governing authorities.
Acknowledging e-challans and their importance is crucial in promoting road discipline and safety – much like opting for comprehensive insurance from ACKO is crucial for financial protection. Being vigilant on the road, understanding traffic rules, and driving responsibly is what matters most. This way, you can avoid e-challans altogether. It's like opting for ACKO's car insurance with a host of add-on covers.

3. Never operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

As responsible citizens and vehicle owners, it's imperative to regularly check your e-challan status for law compliance and road safety.
These digital advancements, as complex as they may seem initially, are intended to streamline our experiences on the road, just like ACKO strives to simplify your insurance purchase experience with its transparent and easy-to-navigate platform.

There is a maximum time limit of 60 days to pay an e-challan. You will have to pay an extra penalty fee on top of the principal amount after 60 days or 2 months.
If a traffic challan is ignored, it can lead to a series of consequences. At first, a constable may visit your home to collect the fine. You may receive a court summons if the challan remains unpaid. Your driving license may be suspended for ignoring the summons.
If you get more than three challans for violating traffic rules, it may lead to the cancellation of your driving licence.
