In India, owning a vehicle comes with many responsibilities. There are specific laws that need to be followed, whether you own a four-wheeler or a two-wheeler. As per the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, you need to take care of certain things, such as having essential documents related to your vehicle. One important document you need to have as per the Motor Laws is the Pollution Under Control Certificate. In the section below, we will discuss about PUC certificate and how to perform a PUC check for its expiry date.
PUC stands for Pollution Under Control Certificate. It is a mandatory document for all vehicle owners that specifies whether their vehicle meets the emission standards set by the Government and does not contribute to environmental pollution. The PUC certificate can be issued by different emission-testing centres. However, to get this certificate, your vehicle must undergo an emission test to help determine whether the levels are under permissible limits.
Some of the reasons why it is essential to have a PUC certificate are as follows:
According to the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, all vehicle owners must have a PUC certificate.
In order to contribute to cleaner environment, PUC helps authorities to keep a check on vehicle emission levels.
As PUC provides insights about vehicle emission levels, it helps determine if there is a fuel economy issue and rectifies it accordingly.
