The unfortunate result of that is increased traffic violations (like driving/riding without valid car/bike insurance). The state authorities introduced new rules and fines to address this situation. If you ride a two-wheeler without a number plate in Punjab, you may have to pay a fine of Rs. 3,000 (Rs. 5,000 for a repeat offence). Similarly, if you drive a car/four-wheeler without a number plate, you may have to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000 (Rs. 10,000 for a repeat offence).
