Things to know about two-wheeler insurance in DigiLocker

The word ‘digi locker’ is a short form for digital locker. The digital locker enables you to store documents in a digital format. Traditionally, we used to store personal and vehicle documents such as Driving Licence (DL), bike insurance policy, etc., in physical files or our wallets. This type of storage is risky since you could misplace or lose them.

The process of procuring these documents from government agencies can be cumbersome and challenging. To address this issue, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) launched the DigiLocker, a digital locker that you can access through the website or mobile app. The digital storage app empowers you to store, access, and authenticate digital documents such as Driving Licence, Registration Certificate, Bike Insurance Policy, and more.

Digital documents stored in the government-authorised DigiLocker are considered equivalent to physical documents as per Rule 9A of the Information Technology Rules, 2016. You can present these digital documents at any time through the mobile app to relevant authorities for verifications.

Benefits of using DigiLocker

Here are the advantages of using DigiLocker.

  • You can access your digital documents, such as your two-wheeler insurance policy, from anywhere, saving you time and paperwork.
