When you buy a bike insurance policy, you have to provide basic details about yourself. If there are changes to these details, ensure that you inform ACKO immediately. In case you do not inform us, there are chances that your policy might not be valid when you need to raise a claim.
And if you have deliberately not informed us, you could be committing fraud. One such important detail that is needed by an insurer is your location. A Pincode is an important detail to provide an address. If you ever change your address, you need to inform an insurer immediately. Here’s a guide on how to change the address in the two-wheeler insurance policy.

Here is how you can change your address in a bike insurance policy through our website/mobile app.
Step 1: Please login to www.acko.com.
Step 2: On your policy card, select ‘View Details.’
Step 3: On the new page, click on ‘Edit Policy,’ and you will be able to view various options.
Step 4: On the redirected page, click on ‘Edit/Add Your Address’ and follow the instructions.
After you submit the changes, the new policy document with the updated address will be generated and sent to you.
Here are the reasons why you must update your address on your bike insurance policy.
Legal requirement: Your bike insurance policy should have correct personal details on the policy certificate. Hence, ensure you inform ACKO immediately and get the changes implemented.
Smoother claim settlement: If there are any discrepancies in the personal details on your bike insurance, your claim could be rejected.
Works as address proof: Your vehicle insurance policy can sometimes work as address proof. Hence, updating the policy with the new address is important for future reference.
When you buy bike insurance, your premium is calculated based on several factors. Factors such as age, market value, engine size, and vehicle location are crucial in determining the premium. Location is an essential factor - the city or Regional Transport Office (RTO) in which your bike is registered.
Some cities are considered high-risk due to more accidents and bike theft, heavier traffic, and/or higher vehicle density, and/or higher population density than other cities.
If your two-wheeler is registered under a city that is considered as low-risk prone, and you are moving to a high-risk prone city, then your premium will increase. Alternatively, your premium can decrease if you move from a high-risk to a low-risk-prone city.
If you have moved to a different state in India, you have to register your bike at the local RTO. With the new registration, the registration number of the bike changes as well. Additionally, if you have moved from a low-risk-prone city to a high-risk-prone city, your bike insurance premium will increase.
Since the bike registration number has changed, you must inform ACKO about the location change. You can call us, write an email or visit our website/mobile app to make the changes to your policy. Our support team will help you with the changes and provide the updated policy certificate.
Apart from the change of address, you can also change other two-wheeler insurance policy details. The procedure to change personal information remains the same as mentioned above. Following are the personal details that you can edit or change in the two-wheeler insurance policy.

Here are some commonly asked questions about bike insurance.
If you fake your residential address, your policy could be cancelled, might have to pay penalties, face legal consequences, and probably ACKO might even deny bike insurance in the future.
It is not illegal; however, you may face several consequences that may impact your claims, future relationship with ACKO, and you may have to pay penalties.
You should provide the address where the vehicle is currently being used. The insurance coverage is based on the vehicle’s location since there is a difference in the premium between high-risk and low-risk locations.
If you do not change the address in the insurance plan, your claims can be rejected, and you may not receive the proper compensation.
You need to inform ACKO immediately and get the changes completed so that there are no future consequences.
