Idli with Sambar/Rasam

Using semolina and cooked rice along with urad dal, you can prepare supersoft yummy Idli with Sambar/Rasam. Idlis are steam cooked and light on the tummy and a good source of carbohydrates, while urad dal gives the protein.

    Ingredients to make Idli with Sambar/Rasam:

    1 cup cooked rice, ½ cup urad dal, ½ tsp fenugreek seeds, 1 cup semolina (idli rava)

    Steps to make Idlis with Sambar/Rasam:

    1. Wash and soak the urad dal for 2 hours. Add the fenugreek seeds too.

    2. In a blender, add the cooked rice along with 1.5 cups of water. Blend to a smooth paste.

    3. Grind the urad dal and fenugreek seeds to a smooth paste.

    4. In a big bowl, add the urad dal paste, cooked rice paste and semolina. Give a good mix.

    5. Ferment the batter for about 6-8 hours.

    6. Grease the idli molds and pour a spoonful of batte in each mold.

    7. In an idli steamer, steam cook the idlis.

    Serve the hot Idlis with Sambar/Rasam to your little one. Enjoy!
