Maavinkayi Pongal, is a delicious meal. This yummy Pongal is made using rice, which contains carbohydrates, channa dal, which has valuable proteins and raw mango, which is a good source of vitamins. Overall, a preparation that has all the right nutrients.

Ingredients to make Maavinkayi Pongal:
½ cup rice, ¼ cup channa dal, ¼ cup grated raw mango, 1 tsp grated coconut, 1 tsp fried and powdered peanuts, 2 tsp oil, salt as per taste
Steps to make Maavinkayi Pongal:
1. Wash and soak the rice and channa dal for 30 mins.
2. In a pressure pan, add oil. Once warm, add the grated raw mango. Saute for 2 mins. Add the soaked rice and channa dal. Add salt.
3. Add 2 cups of water. Pressure cook for 4 whistles.
4. In a pan, saute the peanuts for 2 mins. Powder them. In the same pan, add oil. Saute grated coconut for a min.
5. Once the pressure cools down, add the powdered peanuts and coconut. Give it a thorough mix.
Hot, yummy Maavinkayi Pongal is all ready. Enjoy.
