Delicious meetha baath can be made using rice and sugar, both rich in carbohydrates and urad dal, a good source of protein. You can flavour this awesome rice preparation with saffron strands soaked in little milk and you would absolutely love it.
½ cup raw rice, ½ tsp urad dal, 2 tbsp sugar, 4-5 strands of saffron soaked in 1 tsp warm milk, ½ tsp oil
1. Soak the raw rice in 1 cup of water for half an hour. Drain the water and keep aside.
2. Dissolve the saffron strands in 1 tsp milk.
3. Cook the rice in one cup of water. In a kadai, temper the cooked rice with oil and urad dal. Switch off the flame.
4. In another pan, prepare the sugar syrup. On medium flame, dissolve sugar in half cup water. Stir and cook for 1 minute.
5. Add the dissolved saffron mixture to the sugar syrup. As the mixture comes to a boil, switch off the flame and pour it over the cooked rice.
6. Mix the rice gently and allow it to stand for 2-3 mins. Meetha baath is ready to sweeten your taste buds!
