This is a balanced and nutritious meal for your toddler. Further, this dish adds a different flavour, taste and texture to the khichdi and your toddler will love it. It is packed with protein, vitamins and minerals.

½ cup rice, 1 tbsp. moong dal, 2 tbsp. of grated carrots, chopped yellow pumpkin, green peas, ½ tsp. ghee, pinch of turmeric powder, pinch of asafoetida, pinch of black pepper powder and salt to taste
1. Wash the rice and moong dal together and soak for 30 minutes.
2. Add the soaked rice,dal and vegetables along with turmeric, asafoetida and water to a pressure cooker.
3. Pressure cook on medium flame for 2 whistles.
4. When the pressure goes off, open the lid and mash the rice to smooth while it is still hot.
5. Add salt, ghee and pepper powder and mix it well.
6. Bring the khichdi to the right consistency by adding hot water only.
