Tomato Khichdi is a good meal as it is full of nutrition. It is also a comfort food which is easily digestible. The combination of rice, lentils and ghee provides your baby with carbohydrates, proteins, dietary fiber, Vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. Making khichdi with tomato is a wonderful food for your kiddo as tomato contains Vitamin A, high level of Vitamin C which helps in building stronger bones.

1/3 cup toor or moong dal, 2/3s cup rice, 1 tomato, 3 cups water, ½ teaspoon cumin seeds or cumin powder, a pinch of turmeric powder, 2 garlic cloves(optional) and 1 teaspoon ghee.
1. Wash and soak dal and rice together for 30-45 minutes.
2. Wash and chop the tomato into small pieces. Keep aside.
3. Put ghee in a pressure cooker and fry cumin seeds till they crackle. Add the chopped tomatoes and fry them till they become soft. Add a pinch of turmeric powder.
4. Now add the washed rice and dal, fry for a minute and put 3 cups of water. Pressure cook till 3 whistles (1 on high and 2 on medium).
5. Open the pressure cooker after the steam is released and mash it a little with a spoon.
Your yummy Tomato Khichdi is ready!
